Objective
Design an RC ROVER from scratch able to compete against 15 other vehicles for maneuverability and speed.
Chassis and Ackermann Steering System
Used laser cutting and SOLIDWORKS to build a lightweight chassis made out of balsa wood.
Built an Ackermann steering system using commonly found items.
Powertrain and Brake Mechanism
Calculated required power and gear ratio to complete all obstacle courses.
Developed a braking system able to decelerate the vehicle without throttle control.
Final Product
Our ROVER was one of the only vehicles able to complete all obstacle courses, placing 3rd out of 15.
